Cordelia Albach was born April 30, 1857 in St. Louis, Missouri.  Cordelia's parents were Wilhelm Johann and Anna (Hauck) Albach.   Cordelia's mother Anna died when she was about six, on Feb 24, 1863.   Her only sibling, Friedrich died shortly after their mother's death on May 19, 1863 at the age of four.    Cordelia continued to live with her father who was the principal at Immanuel Academy in St. Louis, MO.   Cordelia met her future husband, Heinrich Schmidt, who graduated from Concordia Lutheran Seminary in St. Louis.   They were married in Schaumburg, IL. on July 27, 1876 by Heinrich's father who was a pastor at St. Peters Lutheran Church.  Cordelia and Heinrich had six children, William, Clara, Emma, Carl, Edwin and Margarete, their son William died in early childhood.  Cordelia's father William Albach would move from St. Louis, MO to Milwaukee after his retirement in 1889 to live with her family until his death on Dec 19, 1900.  Cordelia died in Milwaukee, WI sixteen years later on her fifty-ninth birthday, April 30, 1916.
