Wilhelm Johann Albach (Albaugh) was born in Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany January 24, 1819. His parents were George and Anna. They immigrated to the US on the Johannes which arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on Sept 30, 1832. He had two sisters, Elizabeth and Catherine and one brother George that immigrated with the family. His sister Catherine would marry Rev. Paul Baumgart and live in the Midwest. George stayed in the Baltimore area and ran a mercantile business. Wilhelm attended Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA finishing approximately in 1841. He was ordained as a Lutheran minister in Carrollton, OH, Sept. 30, 1849 by the English Lutheran Synod of Ohio. Wilhelm was a teacher at the English Academy for women in Somerset, PA from 1840 – 1845. He was a licentiate in Ft. Wayne, IN and Butler, IN 1845 – 1849 and he was a Pastor in Carrollton, OH in 1851 - 1852. Wilhelm was suspended in 1852 for reasons that are unknown at this time he married Anna Hauck on April 3, 1855 in Carrollton, OH. Wilhelm and Anna moved to St. Louis, MO where he was the principal of Immanuel Academy from 1857 – 1889. Wilhelm and his wife Anna had two children, Cordelia Johanna born April 30, 1857 and Friedrich Heinrich Wilhelm, born April 17, 1859. Wilhelm's wife Anna died February 24, 1863 and shortly after her death his young son Friedrich would die on May 19, 1863. After working at Immanuel Academy for over thirty years Wilhelm retired in 1889 and moved to Milwaukee, WI to live with his daughter Cordelia and family, he died in Milwaukee, WI on Dec. 11, 1900.
